Certain areas within Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, Ohio, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Ontario, and Quebec (Canada) are currently under a federal firewood transport quarantine established by the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to prevent the spread of emerald ash borer (EAB). It is felt that EAB may be resident in the wood and could be spread through firewood transport to un-infested areas. It is in direct violation of the USDA APHIS quarantine for you to bring firewood from a quarantined state or county into Iowa and to transport firewood from quarantined counties within Iowa outside of the quarantine area. Please do not bring firewood from your state into Iowa. For more information about EAB and the federal quarantine areas, please visit: www.iowadnr.gov/firewood
