Use and Cleaning Rules:
There are a number of rules and restrictions pertaining to use of this facility including decorations and clean up responsibilities. If you have never rented the lodge before, it is recommended that you contact staff at the park prior to making a reservation. All renters should read all of the use rules and cleaning procedures for this facility found on the Iowa DNR website at www.iowadnr.gov and entering “Lodge Rentals” in the site search box located right above the “Inside DNR” tab. Renters are expected to abide by all facility use rules and cleaning procedures for the facility. Failure to review these items could result in cancellation of your reservation and forfeiture of reservation transaction fees.

If you party size exceeds the seating capacity, you must contact the park office PRIOR TO RESERVING, to determine whether the facility and amenities can accommodate your event. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the reservation and forfeiture of reservation transaction fees.

KEY INFORMATION: Renters will pick up keys at the park office (319/232-5505). Return keys to the park office.

DAMAGE DEPOSIT REQUIRED: A $70 damage deposit is required in addition to the rental fee. If you are having a keg at your event, a keg beer damage deposit in the minimum amount of $100 will be required in lieu of the lodge rental damage deposit of $70. The deposit must be paid separate from the rental fee. The damage deposit is due upon arrival or a check can be mailed to the park office at least 7-14 days in advance. Checks should be made payable to Iowa DNR. Cash deposits must be returned in person. Checks will be returned by park staff at check-out or returned by mail upon satisfactory inspection of the facility. Mail the check to:
George Wyth State Park
3659 Wyth Road
Waterloo, IA 50703

Important Information:
If you wish to decorate the day before, you will need to reserve the facility for that day and pay the appropriate rental fee. Please be sure to read the rules regarding decorations on the DNR website.

The renter is responsible for the group and all activities in the park associated with the event. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is not responsible for items that are lost, stolen, or become damaged. Renters are financially responsible for any damage to state park property or extra cleaning that may be required.

Please plan to have your function over by 10:00 p.m. or earlier if necessary in order to clean and leave before the park closes.

Only beer with an alcohol content of 5% or less by weight and wine with an alcohol content of 17% or less by weight may be consumed in state parks and recreation areas. Drinking of these beverages is not permitted on roads or in parking areas. Hard liquor and wine with an alcohol content of more than 17% by weight or other alcoholic liquors are not to be consumed in state parks and recreation areas. Keg beer is allowed through a keg beer permit only. Renter must obtain permit from park staff at least 30 days prior to the rental. A damage deposit in the minimum amount of $100 per 100 or fewer persons will be required and will be used in lieu the damage deposit normally required for lodge rentals.

Emerald ash borer (EAB) has been confirmed in a number of counties throughout Iowa. As a result, the entire state of Iowa is now under state and federal firewood transport quarantines. It is in direct violation of the federal quarantine to transport firewood from a quarantined area into a non-quarantined area. Park visitors are cautioned not to transport firewood across county lines in Iowa or across state lines since the movement of firewood throughout Iowa or to other states poses the greatest threat to quickly spread EAB even further. Do you part to help prevent the spread of EAB and other woodland pests. Please consider buying firewood locally near the park you are visiting and burn it all during your stay. For more information about EAB and the federal firewood transport quarantine, visit: www.iowadnr.gov/firewood
